Courts need more diversity

Twenty years ago, a study commission found that “Minorities are significantly underrepresented as judges in Florida in proportion to their numbers in the general population …” A follow-up study in 2000 found some improvement, especially at the high-court level, but “the judiciary as a whole still does not accurately reflect the rich cultural diversity of our state.” Eleven years later, that assessment still holds true.
